Efter at have været år undervejs er et kulturcentrum på Ydre Østerbro endelig ved at komme på plads. De oprindelige bevilgede 30 millioner til et selvstændigt kulturhus har vist sig ikke at være nok.
Efter mange overvejelser og års snak om mulige placeringer for et nyt kulturcentrum på ydre Østerbro, er man nu i Kultur-og Fritidsudvalget landet på et kulturcenter på Kildevældsskolen. En beslutning som lokaludvalget heldigvis også bakker op om. Og det gør jeg også.
Jeg mener, at et kulturcenter på Kildevældsskolen er en god og realistisk løsning. Med kulturcenter, café og mødelokaler får Østerbro her et sted, som kan være et centrum for områdets kulturliv. Det vil give et løft til både skolen og til hele lokalsamfundet omkring.
Kombinationen skole og kulturcenter på samme adresse, gør at de to kan nyde godt af hinanden, skabe en god synergi og blive en dynamo for kreativitet og lokalt engagement.
Et center på Kildevældsskolen er ikke det selvstændige kulturhus, som mange i tidernes morgen havde håbet på, men det er en rigtig god og realistisk løsning, som kan samle mange af områdets børn og forældre omkring kulturelle aktiviteter på et sted, hvor de i forvejen kommer. Både som politiker og beboer i området glæder jeg mig til, at det står klar. Bragt i Østerbro Avis den 4. juli 2012
